"That the dogs come before the show,"Jinnie Strickland of Solstice Kennels(Breeders of Cardigan Welsh Corgis and German Short-haired Pointers)features this on her websites home page. And was gracious enough to allow me to post it here.It is without a doubt a statement I believe in.That's why here at CuSithe we strive with every puppy we bring into our home and kennel to have them meet our breeds standard, yet always put their well being first. We want gregarious, loving and even tempered pets who just happen to enter a show ring. While we are predominately a conformation kennel, the shows never come before our puppies health.Ultimately to have a wonderful show dog you must first have a happy, healthy dog. That is why we would never breed a dog/bitch who was not first and foremost show quality, who must at least obtained their CKC and/or CFC Championship .Though we do do testing, these tests are not in anyway the perfect guarantee we can use them as a guide to help decide which dogs/bitches are least likely to pass on genetic conditions.Like when building a home, the perfect foundation means less problems over the years,as it is in the foundation for a kennels breeding program. With happy, healthy dogs in the beginning you have exceptionallly happy, healthy dogs in the future.
