"That the dogs come before the show,"Jinnie Strickland of Solstice Kennels(Breeders of Cardigan Welsh Corgis and German Short-haired Pointers)features this on her websites home page. And was gracious enough to allow me to post it here.It is without a doubt a statement I believe in.That's why here at CuSithe we strive with every puppy we bring into our home and kennel  to have them  meet our breeds standard, yet always put their well being first. We want gregarious, loving and even tempered pets who just happen to enter a show ring. While we are predominately a conformation kennel, the shows never come before our puppies health.Ultimately to have  a wonderful show dog you must first have a happy, healthy showdog. That is why we would never breed a dog/bitch who was not first and foremost show quality, who must at least obtained their CKC Championship and meet all the medical criteria for our breed.Which means tests and clearances for von Willebrand Disease,a Cerf clearance for their eyes, and a OFA/Penn standing for their hips & Elbows.Though these tests are not in anyway the perfect guarantee they do help us to decide which dogs/bitches are least likely to pass on these conditions.Like when building a home, the perfect foundation means less problems over the years,as it is in the foundation for a kennels breeding program. With happy, healthy dogs in the beginning you have exceptionallly happy, healthy dogs in the future.

Hi,I'm Dawn,Over the last six years I've been owned by Corgis, but my hearts been owned by the breed since I was a little child.I would watch the CBC specials with my Grandmother, who came to Canada after World War Two as a warbride. She brought with her from Great Britian a love for all things Royal. So we had a tradition every Sunday morning  where we would  watched Coronation Street. She would curse the antics of the characters, from Martin to Les ,and everyone inbetween.Sundays usually also meet if there was a special about the Brits,it would be right on after Coronation Street.I would sit and wait for the appearance of the funny little dogs that the Queen seemed to love so much.I remember the first time I seen them,I thought them so magical.Of course I had never seen one before that and my Grandmother had to tell me their name"Welsh Corgis,Pembrokes Dear Pembrokes"Right then and there I vowed to be owned by one.But like all things good, one is never enough.Follow our first few years on the show trail in our blog.
